We have become a nation of people that is easily swayed by popular opinion and persuasive advertising messages. Don't worry, I am not going to wax political on you. I just hope to share some sage advice.
We deal with some really cool stuff on a daily basis, all the latest and greatest gadgets and gizmos. If you want to control your entire home, and possibly your neighbors home, from your iPod, iPad, Droid, or Blackberry we can do that and it is really cool. But maybe that is not for you. If you are not interested in being constantly connected via a iDevice you don't have to be, however there are other options that can help you simplify and consolidate audio, video, security, etc.
However you choose to be able to control and interface with these devices needs to be consistent. If you start down the path of controlling your entire home from an iPad or iPhone stick with that path. If you start down the path of controlling your entire home with a Universal Remote stick with it. Changing between systems, while not impossible, can often be more expensive than you expect.
Lastly, technology is evolving at an extremely rapid pace. Don't expect your electronic gadgets and gizmos to last for 10 years especially when it comes to handheld type control devices. You can expect these devices to last 2-4 years, 5 years tops in most cases. Think about it, how often do you get a new mobile phone? Why? Rapid changes in technology. Remember how big the original mobile phones were?
Feel free at any time to pick my/our brains for more advice and direction. We will be glad to help. Jason.
