How do I reset my Internet connection?

  1. Unplug your cable or DSL modem.
  2. Unplug your Internet router.  This is the device that is connected to your cable or DSL modem with a single computer network cable.
  3. Leave both devices unplugged for about 30 seconds. 
  4. Plug the cable or DSL modem back in.  Wait for the indicator light labeled “Internet” to illuminate.  This usually takes about 30 to 60 seconds. 
  5. Once the “Internet” indicator is illuminated go ahead and plug-in the Internet router. 
  6. Check you Internet connection at your computer by opening a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, and browsing to any web site.
    • If you can open web pages you have successfully reset your Internet connection. 
    • If you are unable to open web pages reboot your computer and try again.
